SoapAid is a hygiene product based on the circular economy principles that helps communities overcome waterborne diseases and stay safe during times of crisis.
Each year, approximately 1 million SoapAid hygiene bars are produced and distributed worldwide in collaboration with SoapWorks Ltd, empowering health professionals and organisations to provide safe hand washing resources that prevent the spread of waterborne disease.
SoapAid bars are made from ethically grown, environmentally friendly palm oil. The bars are created by remanufacturing tailings, excess stock, and corporate product donations.
At Soapworks we believe that access to basic hygiene should be a right, not a privilege. Recognising the impact that soap can have on preventing diseases and enhancing well-being, in 2002 we set out on a mission with Glasgow the Caring City to provide soap to those who need it most.
This remarkable organisation has been working tirelessly since its inception to alleviate suffering and provide aid to the most vulnerable communities both locally in Scotland, and across the world.
Through our partnership with Ross and the GTCC team, we have been able to reach communities facing extreme hardships, from poverty-stricken areas to regions ravaged by conflict or natural disasters. We understand that in such challenging circumstances, access to basic hygiene products can be severely limited. By providing life-saving soaps, we can help empower individuals with a simple yet powerful tool to protect their health and improve their quality of life.
Soapworks' partnership with Glasgow the Caring City has stood the test of time because it is built on shared values, trust, and a mutual determination to make a difference. Together, we have seen the power of collaboration in creating meaningful change, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to helping those in need. By combining our expertise in soap manufacturing with their extensive network and outreach capabilities, we have been able to create a sustainable and impactful solution to address the hygiene needs of vulnerable communities both locally and across the world.
As we reflect on our journey thus far, we are humbled by the stories of resilience and hope that have emerged from the communities we have served. We are grateful for the unwavering support of Glasgow the Caring City and our dedicated team at SoapWorks for their hard work. Our staff take immense pride in knowing that the soaps they manufacture are helping vulnerable communities across the world.
Looking ahead, we are excited to continue our partnership with Glasgow the Caring City, knowing that there is still much work to be done. We remain committed to our mission of improving hygiene and promoting health, one bar of soap at a time.
